Villa Hundira

Villa Hundira is a wonderful gem hidden away next to Negombo Lagoon. The owners are really hands on and friendly - the man of the house worked with an architect to design the villa and his wife enjoys furnishing the rooms with locally crafted antique furniture and soft furnishings (some of which are made in her workshop on site, where she works with local girls to create art, crafts and souvenirs). All 14 rooms are colourful and comfortable, and some have views of the 2 swimming pools or the lagoon.  The Restaurant serves western fare with their signature dish being Swedish meatballs but if you want to try some local Sri Lankan food there is an extensive array of dishes that can be made as spicy or mild as you like.  There is also a spa offering massages and treatments using products made of local and natural ingredients.
