Visit Ranakpur and Kumbhalgarh (en route to Narlai)

Ranakpur and Kumbhalgarh sit en route between Udaipur and Narlai, so it's well worth visiting one or both of these sights if travelling between Udaipur and Narlai by car. Kumbhalgarh, which comes under UNESCO's protected Hill Forts of Rajasthan, is perched on a hilltop 1100 meters above sea level. It's easily one of Rajasthan's most impressive forts, dating back to 1485. The ramparts are up to 20 feet thick with a perimeter wall that extends 36 kilometres. There are over 360 temples within the fort itself. Ranakpur, on the other hand, is known for its spectacular and intricate marble Jain temple. The sight dates back to the 1400's and its ornate carved pillars make it one of the world's most impressive Jain temples. We think both are fascinating.

Udaipur City Tour

Our Udaipur City Tour starts with Udaipur’s City Palace, Rajasthan’s largest palace that towers over the shimmering Lake Pichola. Built over three centuries, with a series of four interconnecting palaces, Udaipur’s City Palace illustrates numerous architectural styles. Of particular importance is the exquisite collection of Rajput miniature paintings and the Crystal Gallery. The Bagore Ki Haveli is also worth visit; this splendid museum exhibits Udaipur’s traditional arts and crafts, costumes, musical instruments and marble work. Before returning back to your hotel for some afternoon rest your guide will walk you through Udaipur’s old town area, a maze of tiny streets flanked by intricate havelis and brimming with cows, peoples, temples and bazaars. In the evening you will enjoy a sunset cruise on Lake Pichola, sailing past its picturesque ghats and palaces.

Visit to Koftkari Sword Makers

Visit the crafts people who specialise in the art of “Koftkari”. The inlay of gold and silver wire on iron objects was traditionally practiced by the Siklikar who crafted ornamented weaponry for Rajputs warriors. The family you visit is one of the last few left who practice this craft making swords and daggers. Your guide will translate any questions you have and will explain the very delicate process.
