The Belmond Das Cataratas is, without doubt, one of the most iconic properties in the Falls area, especially for its impeccable location right in the national park and its attractive pastel pink colonial style building. Das Cataratas is situated in Brazil within the national park entrance, with the front door steps from the pathways down to the Devils’ Throat viewpoint. Head out early morning before the park opens and the crowds arrive, with the hotel’s own walking guide to see birds and insects as well as enjoy uninterrupted views of all the falls on the Argentine side that are best seen from here.
Superb facilities include a large outdoor pool and two restaurants. The casual Ipe Grill is ideal for a lazy alfresco poolside lunch or fresh breakfast buffet, while Itaipu is perfect for an intimate dinner, either inside or on the shaded verandah. The spa here is a real highlight and boasts some wonderful pampering treatments. Rooms are also suitably luxurious with colonial era styling. Note that there are very limited falls views as such from a few rooms, including the vast Cataratas suite at the front with private balconies but the hotel’s location is so close, it hardly matters. And of course, impeccable Belmond service and concierge staff will attend to your every need. A true classic.
