Hotel overview

One of Tanzanias oldest guesthouses, Gibbs farm is a luxurious farmhouse style retreat, perfectly situated between Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater. Think beautiful tropical gardens, old stone walled farmhouse, crops as far as the eye can see and beautifully tailored gardens and you are on the right track. Within the main farmhouse you will find the restaurant, two lounges and a bar area as well as a gift shop and a separate room as a small art gallery. One of the unique elements of the farm is the activities that guests can get involved with, almost every aspect of farm life is available for visitors to get involved with along with mountain biking, walking, spa treatments and talks by the resident naturalist.

It is worthy of note that there is currently no swimming pool at Gibbs farm although one is under construction and will be open very soon. The 17 rooms at Gibbs are luxurious farmhouse style chalets with wooden beams, stone walls and open fireplaces and the large windows offer lovely views over the grounds. With a full working farm, the vast majority of food comes from the grounds and is widely recognised as being some of the best in the area. There is a reasonably high cost associated with Gibbs but it is certainly unique with beautiful architecture, colourful artwork and a plethora of activities on offer so, in our opinion, it is good value for money. We really like it, no hesitations from anyone in the team in making the recommendation.
