A luxurious tented lodge in the eponymous, recently renamed national park (it is more commonly known as the Mamili), Nkasa Lupala is one of the most attractive options in the whole Caprivi Strip. This is remote south eastern Caprivi, close to the border with Botswana and at the confluence of the legendary Linyanti, Selinda and Kwando Concessions. Like them, this area boasts some fantastic wildlife, with periodic vast herds of buffalo, elephant and red lechwe, as well as ever present hippo pods, basking crocodiles and sensational birdlife. The area can become fairly impassable during the rains, which is why a knowledgeable guide with a sturdy 4x4 is highly recommended to lead you on activities such as boat cruises and game drives (which can also go into neighbouring Mudumu National Park).
Accommodation is in spacious safari tents, raised on wooden decks with superb views out to the verdant wetlands. The central lodge is also elevated high on stilts to permit inactive game viewing from camp, and there is a cosy lounge and dining area. This is arguably the most diverse wildlife area of the entire Caprivi Strip and Nkasa Lupala is its premier accommodation.
