Ndhovu Safari Lodge

Hotel overview

Very close to Popa Falls and the Mahango Game Reserve, and situated virtually halfway between Rundu and Katima Mulilo, Ndhovu Safari Lodge is a highly convenient Caprivi stopping point. From a scenic setting on the western banks of the Okavango River, first class boat trips, game drives, birding expeditions and village tours are all on offer, as well as the chance to spend a couple of nights on the Hippo houseboat. This is an excellent area for hippos and elephants, which are regular visitors to camp, and for a wealth of colourful water birds, with over 400 species identified in the area. Drives into Mahango reveal a swampy, riverine habitat where you might also see buffalo, red lechwe and sable.

Accommodation is in eight relatively spacious safari tents, with comfortable beds and en-suite facilities including a hot shower. All of the tents overlook the river and its parade of hippos, as does the thatched lapa, where there is a bar, river terrace and dining area serving tasty home cooked food. Day-trips to the Caprivi National Park are possible, but we would recommend a couple of nights at Ndhovu to explore Mahango, Popa Falls and the other attractions of the immediate area.
