The latest hotel to establish itself on the beach is quite possibly the pick of the bunch. The Hoi An Boutique is a sophisticated and elegant property, centred around a large swimming pool and surrounded by tropical gardens. It is a just ten minute drive from the “old town” of Hoi An, but only if you are able to drag yourself from the white sands besieging the hotel. There are 4 room types to choose from – the resort made up of 48 superior rooms, 24 deluxe rooms, 8 boutique deluxe and finally 2 beach villas, which have two bedrooms each and a large living space with direct beach access. All rooms are modern and stylish (and very white), with private balconies or terraces. They include all the mod cons you would expect from a resort of this standard; air-conditioning, flat screen TV’s, mini bar, free wireless internet…etc. The photographic artwork on the walls is magnificent, commissioned specially for the hotel.

Dining centres around either ‘Le Salon’ or ‘Le Café’, where the buffet-style breakfasts are served. For lunch and dinner the menu includes both Vietnamese and Western dishes and is surprisingly reasonably priced, rare for a resort with a captive audience (unless you are dining in Hoi An). Meals can be enjoyed in air-conditioned comfort or al-fresco on the garden terrace, which is attractively lit by lanterns in the evening. Snacks and meals are available throughout the day at the smaller and more informal ‘Piscine Bar’. The hotel also boasts a fully equipped gym and a delightful Spa offering a superb range of relaxing treatments and massages. You won’t find evening musical entertainment or a kids club at this hotel. It’s not that sort of place. You are more likely to come across a fisherman mending his nets in a coracle on the beach than a jet ski. If you are looking for somewhere on the beach that combines a really stylish accommodation with a low-key and laid back atmosphere then the Hoi An Boutique fits the bill.
