The Smith Hotel

The Smith Hotel is a brilliant little boutique stay in the heart of historic Kingston, set within a beautifully restored former church on Queen Street, only a short stroll from the waterfront. It’s a great pick if you want a central base with plenty of atmosphere, where you can step straight out to cafés, restaurants and independent shops, then come back to somewhere with real character and a modern, design-led feel.

Accommodation is intimate, with just ten air-conditioned rooms, and they’re set up more like stylish apartments than standard hotel rooms. Each includes a seating area, a full kitchen and a walk-in shower, which is ideal if you like having the option to keep things flexible with simple meals or snacks. Several room types are arranged over loft-style layouts, so the sleeping area is upstairs, reached by stairs, which adds to the sense of space but is worth bearing in mind if stairs are a concern. There are also larger options for families or friends travelling together, including a two-bedroom premium loft with stairs up to two separate loft rooms, and a premium terrace suite with a multi-level layout and big glass walls, plus a private terrace that’s available seasonally from May to October.

WiFi and parking are included, keeping the practical side straightforward, while the location and the building itself give you a stay that feels distinctly Kingston, a little bit historic, a little bit contemporary, and very easy to enjoy on foot.
