Hotel overview

The Otter Hotel is one of Banff’s newest places to stay, set along the forest edge at the quieter end of Banff Avenue. It has a calm, modern feel, helped by the views of lodgepole pines and the mountains that sit just beyond them. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed, and it feels like a good mix of contemporary style with that classic Rockies setting.

Rooms are comfortable and inviting, many with fireplaces that make them feel especially cosy after time outdoors. The look is clean and simple, and the overall feel is easy and unfussy, which works well for longer stays. Views vary between forest and mountains, and the whole place has a nice sense of space.

One of the highlights is the rooftop area, where you’ll find mountain view hot pools and fire pits that make the evenings feel pretty special. There’s a sauna and a small fitness room as well, along with Good Folk, the hotel’s on site restaurant, which has quickly become popular.

The location puts you close enough to walk into town, while still giving you that feeling of being tucked slightly away from the busiest stretch. It’s a great choice for travellers who want something fresh and comfortable in Banff, with lovely views and a relaxed, easygoing atmosphere.
