Sun Peaks – Ideas for Free Time

In winter, Sun Peaks Resort is a haven for snow sports, but the mountainous landscape also offers a wide range of activities in the summer. A ride up the Sunburst Chairlift gives access to 16 walking trails, ranging from gentle strolls through flower-filled meadows to more challenging hill climbs and alpine summits. The mountain also transforms into a bike park in summer, with ski lifts carrying cyclists to the top of a network of downhill trails. Bikes can be rented locally. Sun Peaks is also home to a unique experience—Mountain Cross Cart—where non-motorised go-karts are used to race down a 512-metre course with twists and turns along the way. Nearby, McGillivray Lake is an excellent spot to rent a canoe or kayak for a peaceful trip on the water, and for those brave enough to handle the cool temperatures, it also offers safe swimming. Additional activities include horse riding, golf, Segway tours, horse-drawn carriage rides, and tennis, ensuring there’s truly something for everyone in this vibrant resort.
