With many of the rooms dating between 1834 and 1865, the Savoy Hotel in Ooty is a true colonial property. Managed by the Taj group, the Savoy Hotel is perched on a hillside just outside of Ooty and sprawls over six acres of landscaped gardens. It exudes old world charm, with characterful cottages; some even have open fireplaces. Despite being a heritage property there’s plenty of unexpected facilities including a gym and an ayurevedic centre. Food is served in a panelled dining room and there’s an additional bar as well, perfect for a well earned drink after a day sightseeing. We feel The Savoy is the best option in Ooty, but it’s best not to expect flawless service and fine dining cuisine. It is however a charming property with lots of character in an area devoid of good accommodation.
