Ranvas is a stylish and romantic boutique hotel that lies within the ramparts of Nagaur’s magnificent Ahhichatracharh Fort. For many the hotel is one of the highlights of visiting the area as it provides a private and unique insight into traditional Rajasthani history. The entire fort has been painstakingly restored in recent years with great support of The Maharaja of Jodhpur. The hotel, which is tucked within the fort, comprises of 10 lavish havelis that surround a large courtyard and pool. These are actually within a palace complex that sits inside the fort walls. Due to the forts complex historic nature each haveli is entirely different in terms of shape, size and design. Within the havelis are 21 individual rooms that are made up of four categories: Deluxe Single, Deluxe Queen, Deluxe King and Suite. There are two options for dining: one restaurant is open sided with an al-fresco terrace and the other a cosy indoor experience ideal for cooler evenings. Location
Nagaur is a small bustling city about two hours northeast of Jodhpur in off-the-beaten track Rajasthan. The city was originally built around the magnificent 12th century Nagaur Fort, otherwise known as Ahhichatragarh, and in recent years the fort has undergone considerable restoration, putting it back to its former glory. Just outside the fort, yet within the walls of the old city, are several mosques including Tarkin-ki-Dargah. The Nagaur Fair, which usually takes place in January and February, is a smaller version of the Pushkar Camel Fair making this a fantastic time to visit.
