Your tailor-made holiday will be as unique as you are. These itineraries are just a starting point, a bit of inspiration to show what’s possible. Your own trip all starts with a conversation with one of our Zimbabwe experts, who’ll take the time to understand what matters most to you and design the perfect holiday to match.
This is an example of an itinerary to Zimbabwe which would be ideal for a family wanting to experience three beautiful parts of the country in family-friendly accommodation. There are options that can take in more or fewer areas, but this is an idea of what would suit a family wanting to get the most out of Zimbabwe.
Here’s a summary of what you might get up to day-to-day on this Zimbabwe holiday. As always, this is just an idea. Every single day of your trip will be tailored to suit you.
Today you will arrive into Victoria Falls Airport where you will be collected by your driver and transferred to your hotel where you will stay for three nights. Spend the afternoon settling into the hotel. This evening you could stay at the hotel and watch the spray of the Falls in the distance whilst enjoying sundowner drinks and dinner on the terrace.
Two days at leisure to explore Victoria Falls. You could take a guided tour of the Falls by foot and there are plenty of activities on offer for families. Depending on the age of children you can enjoy elephant safaris, white water rafting, and boat cruises.
Today you will be collected by your driver and driven approximately three and a half hours to Hwange National Park where you will be staying on a private concession just outside the park. You will be met by a guide from your camp and driven to your lodge where you will stay for three nights. Enjoy a bite to eat and refreshments before your late afternoon game drive with your guide.
You have two days on safari with morning and afternoon safari activities such as game drives or walking safaris. Between the safaris you will have time to relax at the lodge enjoying brunch and high tea as well as any game sightings from the lodge itself. In the evenings you will enjoy drinks around the campfire and a hearty 3-course meal.
Today you will enjoy the morning game drive or walk and brunch, as normal. You will then be transferred into Hwange National Park where you will stay for three nights at a lodge inside the park. The transfer will be part of today’s game drive, depending on how far away the next lodge is. You may stop for a picnic lunch in one of the superb lookout hides within the park. You will then arrive at your new lodge where you will spend the next three nights on safari, making the most of a different area of the park.
Two more days on safari in Hwange National Park. Activities include morning, afternoon and evening game drives, walking with a professional guide (minimum age applies), pan sits, hide sits and bird watching.
Today you will be transferred to an airstrip for a flight north into Lake Kariba. You will be transferred by boat to your lodge in the Matusadona National Park on Lake Kariba where you will stay in a family tent for three nights on safari. Spend the rest of today relaxing and settling into this beautiful lodge.
You and the family have two days of safari in the Matusadona National Park. Activities include safari activities by boat, foot and vehicle as well as fishing and learning about the history of the area. Kariba is famous for its sunsets and this is always a wonderful way to end each day in the wilderness.
Today you will be transferred to the airstrip for your onward light aircraft flight to connect onto your international flight back home.
