Your tailor-made holiday will be as unique as you are. These itineraries are just a starting point, a bit of inspiration to show what’s possible. Your own trip all starts with a conversation with one of our South Africa experts, who’ll take the time to understand what matters most to you and design the perfect holiday to match.
This is the perfect itinerary to capture the highlights of two countries. Your first stop is the roaring thunder of Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, where you can take part in many adrenaline-fuelled activities such as bungee jumping and white-water rafting, or for something more relaxed, a sunset cruise along the inspiring Zambezi River is always a highlight. From here, you'll fly to South Africa and the wildlife icon that is Kruger National Park. There are very few things in life that compare to the thrill of a close encounter with the Big Five, and the Kruger is one of the very best places in the world to experience it first-hand. You'll finish your journey in the cosmopolitan capital of Cape Town, where there are a host of activities to explore, from the breathtaking views from the top of Table Mountain to the Penguins of Boulders Beach.
Here's a summary of what you might get up to day-to-day on this South Africa holiday. As always, this is just an idea. Every single day of your trip will be tailored to suit you.
Your adventure begins as you fly overnight to Zimbabwe. Home to Victoria Falls, one of the world's greatest natural wonders awaits. Over the next few days, you’ll experience the roaring power of the Falls, explore the surrounding landscapes, and have the chance to enjoy plenty of adventures.
When you arrive at Victoria Falls Airport, you’ll be met by your driver and whisked off to your hotel for the next three nights. Take the afternoon to settle in, unwind after the long journey and soak up the surroundings, perhaps with a cocktail in hand. This evening, enjoy dinner on the terrace, where the sound of the Zambezi River is the perfect backdrop to the start of your adventure.
This morning, a guided walking tour takes you through lush rainforest paths to viewpoints where you can witness the sheer power of the Falls up close. If you’re feeling adventurous (and your budget allows), take to the skies in a helicopter flight, with the sheer scale of the waterfall and the winding Zambezi River stretching out beneath you. For the ultimate adrenaline rush, you could even bungee jump from the bridge into the Batoka Gorge! There are plenty of other activities to choose from, from river cruises to whitewater rafting and zip-lining, chat to us about the adventures on offer.
Spend your last morning at Victoria Falls at leisure, perhaps taking the time to explore Victoria Falls town, where local markets offer a chance to pick up unique crafts and souvenirs. For a more meaningful experience (one that comes highly recommended!), we can arrange a ‘Shopping with a Purpose’ tour. Accompanied by a local guide, you’ll visit the town’s shops to purchase much-needed supplies, which you’ll then personally deliver to local community projects and organisations in the surrounding villages. It’s a fantastic way to see another side of Victoria Falls while giving back to the local community.
After breakfast, you’ll be picked up by your driver and transferred to Victoria Falls Airport for your flight into South Africa’s Kruger National Park. Once you arrive, you’ll either collect your hire car or be met by a member of our local team and transferred to your safari lodge for a three-night stay. After settling in, it’s time to head out on your first game drive. You could spot anything from prowling lions to towering giraffes as the African bush comes alive in the late afternoon light.
During your days in Kruger National Park, you'll head off on twice-daily game drives, offering an incredible chance to see the Big Five – lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo – as well as countless other wildlife species in their natural habitat. Early morning drives are ideal for spotting predators on the move, while evening safaris promise a magical setting and sunset encounters with nocturnal hunters as the stars come out.
After one final morning drive, you’ll leave the bush behind and fly to Cape Town, where a completely different side of South Africa is waiting. When you arrive, you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel, which could be anything from a luxurious city hotel to a charming guesthouse with mountain views. Spend the evening unwinding and taking your pick from the city's world-class restaurants.
Cape Town is bursting at the seams with history, culture, and incredible landscapes, and today you’ll visit two of its most famous landmarks. Take the cable car up Table Mountain, ready to take in the panoramic views that stretch across the city, ocean, and beyond. Later, visit Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was famously imprisoned. You'll be guided on a tour by a former inmate, giving such an eye-opening insight into South Africa’s past. This evening, Cape Town’s food scene really is second to none – we’re happy to recommend and book the best restaurants for you.
During your time in Cape Town, making time for a full-day adventure along the Cape Peninsula is a must. Drive the stunning Chapman’s Peak route, stopping for frequent photo spots as the sheer cliffs dramatically plunge into the Atlantic. Visit Cape Point, where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet, and don’t miss Boulders Beach, where a colony of African penguins waddles along the sand. Along the way, you’ll find plenty of hidden beaches, charming fishing villages, and breathtaking coastal viewpoints to enjoy at your own pace.
After one final morning in Cape Town, you’ll be privately transferred to the airport for your flight to Johannesburg, where you’ll connect to your overnight flight back to London. With thundering waterfalls, Big-Five packed safaris and stunning coastal drives, this trip is packed with unforgettable experiences – South Africa at its very best.
