Lapa Rios is one of the most renowned wildlife lodges in Latin America, and a truly memorable place to stay. As with all true wildlife lodges in the Osa Peninsula you should not expect additional comforts such air conditioning or reliable internet access, but the joy of a stay here comes from lodge’s prime position overlooking the rainforest canopy, its superb programme of activities and its attention to detail throughout. Many of the lodge’s en-suite cabins have a feeling of being perched in the treetops, where you can observe the wildlife from the comfort of your own terrace and wake to the sounds of passing howler monkeys and macaws. Tasty meals are served in the lodge’s restaurant which also has its own canopy tower, whilst the swimming pool also boasts wonderful views of Pacific Ocean. Though the jump in price from other lodges in region may at first seem considerable, an excellent choice of activities are automatically included in the price of a stay at Lapa Rios, meaning there will be little additional expense when you arrive. These included activities range from a variety of jungle walks, morning and evening bird watching tours, night tours in the rainforest, jungle medicine tours and a visit to a local school.
