The Melia Iguazu Hotel has simply the best location of any hotel on the Argentine side of the Falls, nestled into a hillside in the heart of the national park and at the head of the extensive network of walking trails that lead up through the many smaller falls to the largest cascade, the Devil’s Throat. The building itself doesn’t exactly blend into the surroundings but the Falls views are undeniably impressive from gardens and some rooms alike. Extensively refurbished a few years ago, it boasts some superb new facilities for those that want to be in the heart of the park – a great place to explore the falls area independently without the need for transport.

Rooms falls into two categories of Falls or jungle view with some larger suites and the impressive Royal Suite with its own private pool and views to the falls. This is a polished international chain hotel but the facilities work really well for families with the vast infinity pool, dedicated kids pool, tennis court and poolside bar and café (summer opening only) as well as its easy access to the jungle pathways around the Falls. Dining options are also casual with a large buffet restaurant. It won’t be for everyone but it certainly is located in a great spot.
