This fabulous world-class resort is not actually in Nha Trang – instead it’s at Ninh Van, a coral-fringed bay on a secluded peninsula that can only be reached by a speedboat. Impressive rock formations overlook the South China Sea, white sand beach and towering backdrop – creating a sense of being luxuriously at one with nature. The resort itself combines barefoot chic with the hallmark Six Senses service and a strong environmental agenda.

The villas, each with a private pool and designed with an open, rustic feel, afford generous space. Expect lots of hand-tooled wood displaying various shades and grain -thatch roofs, timber floors, bamboo four posters and white netting, extensive latticework screens to keep out excessive sun but letting the sea breezes in, wooden bathtubs, driftwood tables and sensuously sculpted swimming pools perched on promontories. They are either on the beach front (with boat access only for several villas) or on the hillside, amongst rock formations in which the private swimming pools have been crafted. For those choosing to stay at the Six Senses solely because of the famous spa, there are several hilltop villas with personal Spa Suites. Staying on the theme, the spa features some of Vietnam’s specialty treatments together with an extensive menu of signature therapies. There is something for everyone, including a selection of wellness activities such as yoga and Tai Chi.

The restaurants serve a selection of international and local favourites plus ‘East meets West’ specialties. Nha Trang is fortunate to obtain fresh produce daily from Dalat, which is only 3-hours away or alternatively produce is sourced from the resort’s own organic garden. This is complemented by the best local seafood including lobsters, king prawns and fish caught fresh everyday. For evening drinks the resort has a funky bar serving excellent cocktails and is designed with the same natural, barefoot theme as the villas. You can explore the vast resort from your villa either by land or water, with mountain bikes and kayaks available. The Six Senses Hideaway is quite simply a remarkable resort – quirky enough to be memorable, relaxing enough to justify its inclusion and luxurious enough to be extremely difficult to leave.
