With glorious views over Sigiriya Rock and Pidurangala Rock Temple, Aliya Resort and Spa boasts one of the finest locations in area known as ‘The Cultural Triangle’. The simple yet contemporary resort is fairly large with 96 rooms but it feels peaceful as the rooms and tents are spread out across 23 acres. The rooms are crisp, clean and modern with small patios or balconies overlooking the gardens. There’s also the option off staying in a Luxury Tent, nestled within a serene jungle area. At the centre of the property is the spectacular infinity pool with views over Sigiriya Rock, as well as several restaurants to choose from. The resort also has a wonderful spa, ideal after morning sightseeing, and there’s the free use of bicycles too. You’ll also find a badminton court, a small museum and a gym. Please note this property is still fairly new; as a result we experienced fairly slow service and grounds that are yet to mature. Despite this we feel it’s a great value option in an excellent location.
