As you head away from Mendoza city towards the Central and Uco Valleys which are filled with neat rows of vineyards, the main roads give way to quiet dirt roads that are ideal for exploring on two wheels. Pick up a picnic lunch from your lodge and plan a meander around the wineries – you would be advised to use a spittoon though if you want to participate in the wine-tasting. It’s a great relaxing way to explore the region independently and while away a few hours in the year-round sunshine, stopping and admiring the views as you travel at your own leisurely pace. If you are after more of an adrenaline-rush it is possible to arrange more action-packed mountain biking tours in the foothills of the Andes around Potrerillos.
