Woodbury Tented Camp is set on a hillside overlooking the plains of the Amakhala Private Game Reserve. 7 raised canvas tents offer comfortably rustic accommodation and private patios from which to enjoy the extensive vistas below. Open plan and under thatch, the central areas provide spaces for guests to socialise, in addition to a viewing deck gazing out over the scenic landscape and a watering hole. Soak in the pool during the midday heat, between exciting game drives and as darkness falls over the land, settle around a campfire, sundowners in hand.
Amakhala Private Game Reserve is around 7,500 hectares and until the turn of the millennium was farmland owned by a number of families, some of whom were 5th generation settler farmers. They joined their land together and made a game reserve, which now offers excellent game viewing (with four of the Big Five being routinely sighted: elephant, rhino, lion, and buffalo. Leopards live up to their elusive reputation!) as well as wonderful scenery with the Bushman’s River cutting a swathe through the reserve.
