After a three-hour journey by motorised canoe, you’ll follow a short, winding path through the dense forest of the Tambopata Reserve. Suddenly, the path opens into a clearing where the impressive Refugio Amazonas Lodge stands. Built using natural materials such as bamboo, wood, and palm fronds, the wooden structure is striking against the lush surroundings. Communal areas are thoughtfully designed with wooden furniture, comfortable cushions, and hammocks, all open to the forest to immerse guests in nature.
Rooms are designed with only three walls, allowing you to spot birds and howler monkeys from the comfort of your bed. Despite the remote location, the lodge offers surprising comfort, including ensuite bathrooms, hot water, electricity until 10pm, and limited Wi-Fi. Meals are served buffet-style, featuring both local Peruvian and international dishes. During your stay, you can enjoy a variety of activities such as jungle walks, canopy tours, kayaking, and visits to the clay lick. Refugio Amazonas is operated by Rainforest Expeditions, an eco-conscious company dedicated to sustainable tourism, offering a chance to learn about their vital conservation projects.
