Aikens Lake Wilderness Lodge

Aikens Lake Wilderness Lodge is the real deal for a fly-in fishing experience in Manitoba, operating since 1949 and set deep in the boreal wilderness within Atikaki Provincial Park. The location is a big part of the magic, the lodge sits on a sandy beach beside the lake, surrounded by forest, with no roads in and that genuine sense of being properly removed from the everyday. It’s a special option if the trip is about the fishing, but you still want comfort, warm service and a smooth, well-run set-up around it.

Accommodation is based around the main lodge, with two-person suites and larger luxury chalet options. The lodge suites are cosy and comfortable, with either a king bed or twin singles, air conditioning, white pine interior walls and a screened-in porch, ideal for sitting out in the evening and taking in the lake air, with shower-only bathrooms. The luxury chalets step things up a notch, offering two bedrooms (each with a king or twins), plus a shared living space with a vaulted ceiling, a wood fireplace and wet bar, along with a screened-in porch looking out to the lake, again with shower-only bathrooms. It’s all designed to feel practical and relaxing after a day out on the water.

What really sets Aikens apart is how all-inclusive and guided the experience is. The package includes return transfers from Winnipeg Airport to Silvers Falls (around 90 minutes), followed by a float plane flight to the lodge (around 30 minutes), so the journey itself feels like part of the adventure. Once you’re there, accommodation and all meals are included, including a daily shore lunch and a happy hour cocktail. Fishing is fully guided, with Lund Alaskan boats for guided days and additional boats available for evening fishing, and the Platinum Lite package covers the key gear and essentials, including non-alcoholic drinks, snacks, rod rentals, tackle and bait.
