The mountains around Nizwa should be the mainstay of any trip, as it is there that the most authentically Omani, and indisbutably Arabian atmosphere can be found. Muscat is a marvel in its own right, and whilst not everyone feels drawn to the comfortable hotels that line the beach, the splendid mosque, bustling souqs and picturesque harbour should feature on your itinerary.
