White Pass is one of the most historically significant routes in the Yukon, and a marvel of engineering – the railway was built through a challenging landscape and in extremely challenging weather conditions. Nowadays it is considered to be one of the most scenic rail journeys in the world – cutting through coastal mountains and with breathtaking views in every direction. This full day trip starts with a coach journey down the historic Klondike Highway to Fraser in British Colombia, whereupon you board the White Pass and Yukon narrow gauge railway. The train journeys over magnificent White Pass Summit, at 800 metres, before descending down to Skagway, on the Alaskan panhandle. You will have time in Skagway to further explore the gold rush history before returning to Whitehorse by coach, with further views and informative commentary throughout.
