The main attraction in this area is most certainly the beautiful lake scenery. Both Lake Louise, Moraine Lake and also nearby Emerald Lake provide postcard perfect backdrops and there are many walking trails which stretch upwards from the lakesides to provide a more panoramic vista. At Lake Louise village there is also a chair-lift and gondola which will gently transport you to up to an elevation of over 2,000 metres for a fantastic birds-eye view of the Rockies and its lakes.
Of interest here is also the impressive natural rock formation at Natural Bridge, and the human created Spiral Tunnels where the Canadian Pacific railway line twists back on itself twice in order for trains for climb the steep gradient of Kicking Horse Pass. If you’re lucky with your timing you may get to see one of the lengthy freight trains appearing from the top of the spiral whilst the rear is yet to enter 17 metres below!
