22 adventures for 2022
Could 2022 be the year you finally come face to face with that animal you’ve always dreamed of seeing in the wild? ( Orangutan in Borneo or a grizzly bear fishing for its salmon lunch in Canada perhaps?). Or, maybe it’s finally time to see Vietnam’s lush rice terraces with your own eyes or gawp at the sun rising through the clouds over Machu Picchu?
We asked our travel-loving team to reminisce about some of their favourite travel experiences and recommend 22 that could make your year one to remember. So, read on for our epic list of 22 adventure ideas cover all kinds of experiences we think could just make your 2022…
1. Uganda – Trek with the mountain gorillas – Cat
“This is without doubt one of the most humbling, mesmerising experiences you can have in Uganda. This once-in-a-lifetime chance to see a highly endangered animal in its natural habitat is one that will cover you in goosebumps and live as a highlight in your memories forever. As you trek through the dense green forest, the excitement and anticipation will build. You’ll follow your guide, putting one step in front of the other, not knowing if or when you might spot one of these gentle primates. And when you do, it’s a feeling like no other.” Cat

2. Costa Rica – Unwind in the pristine paradise of the Osa Peninsula – Lou
“My absolute favourite spot in all of Costa Rica is on the deserted beach at El Remanso on the Osa Peninsula. On my last visit here, I had a free afternoon so decided to stroll down to the coast by myself. Walking along the stunning coastline with no-one else in sight, I stumbled across a freshwater pool hidden under the palms to swim in. As if that wasn’t special enough, once I forced myself to head back to my beautiful bungalow, a troupe of howler monkeys danced through the trees above me. It’s a very magical place – to put it lightly!” Lou

3. Lebanon – Enjoy the views on a hike in the beautiful Qadisha Valley – Emma
“This is one of the most beautiful parts of Lebanon, and during my time here I hiked several of the many routes that line the valley. The longest we tackled was a 13.5-mile walk heading up to the paths at the very top of the region, through the cedar reserve, all the way around the valley and back down on the other side. Absolutely stunning and worth the sore legs!” Emma

4. Borneo – Befriend the wild orangutan in the Danum Valley – Sophie
“Escaping to one of the most exclusive rainforest destinations for an up-close encounter with wild orangutan is a must for any wildlife enthusiast. Not only is the accommodation here fantastic, but the variety of experiences on offer are second to none. I have incredible memories of my last visit here trekking remote trails in the mountains with the expert nature guides, venturing out at night by jeep for nocturnal wildlife spotting and traversing the canopy walkway as hornbills flew overhead and orangutan swung past me – simply incredible!” Sophie

5. Namibia – Take to the skies for a Skeleton Coast safari – Kirsty
“This one-off experience will see you exploring a truly remote corner of southern Africa. Flying over some of the most diverse and amazing scenery with your own pilot guide is a pinch-yourself moment like no other. This three-night trip probably rates as the highlight of my 25 years travelling around southern Africa and I’d jump at the opportunity to do it again in a heartbeat. Yes, it has a big price tag, but it really is worth every penny for the experience.” Kirsty

6. Vietnam – Cycling through the rice fields of Sapa – Vanessa
“This excursion gives you the opportunity to get up close to the sights, smells and culture of this fantastic country. With the freedom of your own two wheels, you’ll cycle through staggeringly beautiful rice terraces taking in the sea of emerald before you. Cycling past the children playing games in the streets and women going about their days working in the fields is really special. We’re always advocates of authentic experiences here at HA, and this really gives you the opportunity to see Vietnam for what it is – a truly magnificent country.” Vanessa

7. Sri Lanka – Climbing the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress – Rachel
“Visiting Sri Lanka and climbing up the ‘lion rock’ was one of my first work trips and what a special one it was. I still think so fondly of the country and all the adventures I was lucky enough to experience there. We set off in time to enjoy the sunset and somehow we were the only people there, apart from the snake charmers. Climbing up the rock was exhilarating and the far-reaching views over the green plains were magnificent. We had monkeys (that looked more like the Beatles) to entertain us as they scampered up the path. A really memorable adventure.” Rachel

8. South Africa – Brave a walking safari in South Africa – Rachel
“My heart was in my mouth when the ranger told us there were very fresh leopard tracks on the path we were walking. We kept edging carefully forward through the bush, until two minutes later we spotted the beautiful creature about 40- 50m away from us. I instinctively moved closer to the ranger (he’s the one with the protection!) but I was beyond spellbound to be sharing the wilderness with this flawless predator. There are no guarantees on what you’ll see when on a walking safari, so coming face to face with such a beautiful, (if deadly!) animal, was a rare and humbling treat.” Rachel

9. USA – Get locked up on Alcatraz Island, then eat cheesecake in San Fran – Vanessa
“My tour of Alcatraz Island was was just so much fun and so interesting. Spend an afternoon walking around the eerie island, listening to the audio tour, soaking in the atmosphere and even locking your friends away in a cell. Once you’ve had your fill of incarceration, hop back on the boat back to San Fran to eat some delicious steak and over indulge at the Cheesecake Factory!” Vanessa

10. Canada – Watch the grizzly bears catch fish in British Columbia – Helen
“Seeing grizzly bears in the wild is an amazing experience, and the rugged west coast of British Columbia is the best place to spot this iconic Canadian animal in its natural, beautiful habitat. The mist-clad mountains make for an incredible backdrop and are almost worth a visit in their own right. But, watching the big grizzlies catching their salmon lunch in the river just a few feet away, is what makes this a truly memorable encounter. I can’t wait to go back!” Helen

11. Peru – Take in the ancient Incan empire of Machu Picchu – Emma
“If you’re anything like me, a visit to Machu Picchu will have a firm place on your travel wish list. When I visited Peru a few years back, I wasn’t lucky enough to have time to experience the Inca Trail trek, but I did manage to visit the wonder on a quick trip from Cusco via the train that runs from the town of Ollantayambo. I will never forget the moment I stepped up to the path to take in that iconic view. As I looked on in awe, the clouds rolled over the sky behind Huayna Picchu, the mountain that sits behind these ancient ruins. It’s one of my favourite travel moments for sure.” Emma

12. Malaysia – Snorkel off the coast of the Perhentian Islands – Sophie
“A keen snorkeller, I am a big fan of the beautiful and lesser-known Perhentian Islands on Malaysia’s east coast. They’re the perfect place for a relaxing stop on your summer holiday. The islands require a little effort to get to but once there you’ll be treated to white sand, palm-fringed beaches and some of the most incredible snorkelling and diving in the country, so I’d confidently say they’re worth the trip! On my last visit to the Perhentians I whiled away the hours snorkelling amongst turtles, rays and black tip reef sharks. I can’t wait to return with my own family as soon as possible!” Sophie

13. Argentina – Marvel at the marine life in Peninsula Valdes – Lou
“This remote and rugged Patagonian coastline is dotted with incredible wildlife – many seals, whales and penguins call the stunning region home. When I last visited, I was lucky enough to enjoy a really special moment I’ll never forget. A young elephant seal pup decided to come and say hello when we were sitting on the beach observing all of them with our amazing lodge guide and host at Rincon del Socorro. It was so humbling to be so close to such a beautiful marine animal.” Lou

14. Japan – Experience Japan at its most authentic – Fenton
“Japan is known for its big super-modern cities, bright lights and robots. But, there is a quieter side to the country and exploring the smaller towns will give you a real feeling of authentic, Japanese life. Hop on the Shinkansen (bullet train) to visit an onsen town (two of my favourites are Takayama and Hakone!) Once there, spend a few nights relaxing in a traditional ryokan – the ultimate in Japanese hospitality. Soak away your stresses in a natural hot spring bath before sitting down (on the floor of course) to indulge in a delicious kaiseki dinner dressed up in a yukata!” Fenton

15. The Maldives – Wake up in an overwater bungalow and dive straight into pristine waters – Rebecca
“Few holiday experiences ooze more luxury, pampering and all round exclusivity than staying in your very own private over-water bungalow in the Maldives. This place really is nothing short of magic. I’ll never forget slowly waking up in the heavenly, pillow-like bed, the sun streaming through the curtains, before stepping outside with nothing but vast turquoise water in front of me. For anyone who is feeling the need for an ultimate treat this year (who wouldn’t be), the Maldives deserves to be considered!” Rebecca

16. New Zealand – Take an overnight cruise on Doubtful Sound – Helen
“This cruise is still one of my all time favourite experiences in New Zealand. Doubtful Sound, in the South Island’s Fiordland, is often overlooked in favour of better known Milford Sound. However, its more secret status means less visitors, which makes for a beautifully tranquil overnight experience. Waking up to sun rising over the towering cliffs and hearing nothing but the gentle breeze across the water, before seeing penguins, seabirds and huge pod of dolphins playing around us is a memory that will stay with me forever.” Helen

17. Cambodia – Take a street food tour of Siem Reap, the way the locals do it, on the back of a Vespa – Sophie
“This adventure in Siem Reap is always one I’d recommend to anyone willing to hop on the back of a Vespa. The Cambodian culinary experience can be a fun, exotic and incredibly unique – especially if you know where to go. So riding through the streets with a local, sampling local markets, street food stalls and hard to find restaurants is a fantastically authentic experience. This is a very special ride indeed that will lead you out of the main tourist areas and into the real Khmer night life.” Sophie
Take me there >
18. Botswana – Be wowed by the legendary Okavango Delta – Kirsty
“Botswana’s Okavango Delta has ‘legendary’ status amongst African safari destinations, and after visiting you are guaranteed to understand exactly why. It really is quite special. The wildlife and culture in the Delta nothing short of magnificent. You’ll have the chance of seeing everything here, colourful birdlife, the ultimate in big cats and predators, vast numbers of hippo and elephant splashing about in the wetlands and countless breeds of game and antelope prancing about the plains.” Kirsty

19. Morocco – Immerse yourself in mountain life with a Berber family – Emma
“I love nothing more than meeting local people when I travel. Authentic, real interactions with those who live in the places you’re visiting is the perfect way to get under the skin of a country and what it’s really like to live there. In the Ourika Valley there is a wonderful opportunity to spend a day immersing yourself in the daily life of a mountain community. I was taught traditional bread-making, how to whip up a delicious Moroccan tagine and, of course, the secret to a stunning cup of Moroccan mint tea. What made it extra special was trying my hand at learning some simple Arabic words and phrases on the way and communicating with these fantastically friendly people in their home.” Emma

20. Tanzania – Visit Prison Island off the coast of Zanzibar – Rebecca
“We took a boat from Stone Town across to Prison Island. Despite being built to incarcerate rebellious slaves, no slaves were ever actually kept there and instead, it became a quarantine station for people with epidemics like yellow fever. It’s a hugely interesting place to visit and the island is now home to the giant tortoises which were given as a gift from the Seychelles – so great for families, too! And after enjoying all of that, a snorkel in the island’s pristine waters topped off one of my favourite days in beautiful Tanzania.” Rebecca

21. New Zealand – Kayaking in Abel Tasman National Park – Lou
“What a spectacular park this is. I kayaked along the coast and had seals swimming around me and then stayed overnight by a stunning beach in a simple shared refuge. The next morning, after a make-shift breakfast, I continued along the amazing shoreline to another delightful beach before catching a water taxi back to Nelson – one of my absolute favourite NZ adventures out of many!” Lou
Take me there >
22. Jordan – Stay in a luxury bubble camp and stargaze in the Wadi Rum desert – Cat
“Experiencing the incredible Wadi Rum desert in ultimate quirky luxury, is one overnight stay I’d always recommend for anyone visiting Jordan. These ‘Full of Stars’ bubble tents are the perfect place to stay for a truly one-off experience. Jordan’s Wadi Rum desert and its vast skies are perfect for a spot of stargazing, and that’s even more magical when done from the comfort of your own lavish bed! You could even combine your night of ‘glamping’ in your luxury tent with an exhilarating ride across the Wadi Rum desert in a 4X4 or perhaps a hike if you’re feeling energetic! It will be a few days that you’ll never forget.” Cat

World's Best Mountains
Introducing: The International Mountain Awards
Things may have gotten a bit complicated again with travel recently, but we’re here to raise you up with the awards you never knew you needed. So, if you’re looking for summit to read this International Mountain Day… (sorry, we couldn’t help ourselves)… Look no further.
From elusive peaks through to iconic ones just waiting to be explored, our wonderful world is bursting to the brim with ranges.
1. The Award for the most Elusive Mountain goes to…
Mount Fuji, Japan
If ever a mountain was to be labelled ‘shy’, it’s Japan’s iconic, cone-shaped Mount Fuji. Keep an eye on the weather when planning your visit, but don’t hedge your bets too much. Even on a sunny day, Mount Fuji has been known to sneak behind cloud or the summer haze that rises off the lakes, often leaving visitors wanting more. There are some public webcams available though, so you can check just how elusive the mountain is feeling before making your day trip to catch a glimpse of this iconic Japanese symbol.
Try your luck at seeing it for yourself on this Japan getaway that gives you two nights in nearby Hakone
2. The Award for the most Lively Mountain goes to…
Arenal Volcano, Costa Rica
Although it’s currently snoozing, Arenal volcano is Costa Rica’s most active mountain. Up until 2010 it was erupting daily offering up an impressive show of bright red lava bubbling over the side of its cone-like crater. Despite being dormant though, Arenal is still Costa Rica’s adventure capital, with countless activities, stunning hiking trails and many natural hot springs to rest your weary adventure limbs in (it has its lively resident to thank for that!)
Experience Costa Rica’s adventure capital on this Costa Rica family holiday
3. The Award for the Most Remarkable Mountain goes to…
The Remarkables, New Zealand
Towering over the lakeside city of Queenstown in New Zealand, these remarkable mountains really do live up to their name. Regardless if you venture up them, they will provide a beautiful backdrop to your time in this part of the country. If you do choose to take a closer look, from the south-side of the mountains you’ll be treated to a staggering view of Queenstown. If you’re visiting New Zealand during the winter, and are a fan of the powdery white stuff, this mountain range is one of the best spots for skiing in the region.
Take in the beauty of New Zealand’s South Island on this South Island Scenic adventure
4. The Award for the Most Adventurous Mountain goes to…
Torres Del Paine – Chile / Argentina – Andes mountain
Wrap up warm when you visit Torres Del Paine, that place is Chile… (We’re not even sorry). The three impressive and towering granite peaks of Torres Del Paine alone are worth a visit to Chile’s most famous national park. But, a hike around this stunning display of natural beauty will see you uncovering lakes the colour of spearmint,
This Patagonia holiday will see you taking in the very best of Chile and Argentina
5. The Award for the Most Challenging Mountain goes to…
Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania
If challenging yourself is top of your travel wish list for 2022, climbing to the top of Tanzania’s Mount Kilimanjaro could be the mountain adventure for you. Frequently considered to be one of the greatest outdoor challenges on the planet, conquering Kilimanjaro could be the perfect excursion if you’re really looking to test yourself (and enjoy the experience of a lifetime of course!) A climb up to the ‘Roof of Africa’ will see you making your way up to 5,895 meters above sea level, take 6 to 8 gruelling days and a fair level of fitness. It’s said that only between 45 and 65% of people who take on the challenge actually make it to the top. But we’re certain that watching the sunrise over the horizon at the summit will be worth every step. Do you fancy your chances?
Climb Kilimanjaro on this active Tanzania adventure
6. The Award for the Most Iconic Mountain goes to…
El Capitan, Yosemite
The iconic, domineering granite wall of El Capitan is without doubt one of Yosemite’s most recognisable landmarks. There’s something truly magical about the light in Yosemite, it wraps around the vertical cliff faces of El Capitan and the Half Dome and is particularly beautiful early in the day when the morning mist gently coats the lush valley in a blue haze. If you really want to explore everything this staggering national park has on offer (including countless imposing mountains, wildflower meadows and plummeting waterfalls), we recommend staying for around three days, there’s just so much to see.
Uncover the Yosemite mountains for yourself and so much more on this 13 day National Parks Road Trip itinerary.
7. The Award for the most Bucket-List Ticking Mountain goes to…
The Rockies, Canada
A visit to the Canadian Rockies will treat you to awe-inspiring mountain valleys, endless icefields, flowing rivers, snow-capped peaks, pristine glaciers and boundless nature. Plus, this mountain range is home to the Rocky Mountaineer, a train ride that makes it on to almost every travel-lovers bucket list as something to experience at least once in a lifetime.
Ride the rails of the Rocky Mountaineer
8. The Award for the Most Wonder-Full Mountain goes to…
Andes Mountains, Peru – Machu Picchu
The lush, forested peaks of the Andes Mountains were hiding a fairly spectacular secret for quite some time. The ancient Incan city of Machu Picchu, now one of the seven wonders of the world (quite rightly), wasn’t rediscovered until 1911. Few mountains are home to an archaeological masterpiece quite like this. You can explore this Andes gem either under the steam of your own two feet, taking on the famous Inca trail, or you can opt for the more relaxed route and take the train up! Either way, this mountain’s secret empire is ready to wow.
Trek to Machu Picchu and explore Lima and Cusco on this Peru holiday itinerary
9. The Award for the Best Sandy Mountain goes to…
Dune 45, Namibia
We’re clutching at straws a little here we realise, but the impressive sand dunes of Namibia’s Namib Desert couldn’t not feature on our best mountainous roundup. The elegant curves, glowing colours and monstrous peaks of what some claim to be the world’s largest sand dunes contrast almost perfectly with the almost other-worldly ‘vleis’ that lurk in their shadows. Get there early to hike up the sandy peak before the crowds arrive. Seeing the sun gradually cast its golden glow over the vast plains of Sossusvlei is an experience not to be missed.

Sophie's Quick Guide to the Perfect Cambodia Getaway
Cambodia is open for travel!
More exciting news for travel and your holidays this week… a Cambodia holiday is back on the table as the beautiful country is the latest to open its doors to international travellers. Not only is it the ‘friendliest country in the world’ (Rough Guides says so!), but it’s now in the top 10 most vaccinated countries worldwide , too. Good on you Cambodia! With everything from pristine beaches to lush jungle, and perfect for couples or families alike, Cambodia could be the holiday destination you’ve been looking for.
Sophie is our expert in all things Cambodia holidays here at HA, and what she doesn’t know about Cambodia is nobody’s business. So, what better way to celebrate it being open for travel, than hearing more about her first-hand experiences in the country and just why she loves it so much? Dive in below….
Where is your favourite place to visit in Cambodia?
” An impossible question for someone who loves the country so much. Whilst I absolutely love returning again and again to Siem Reap and Phnom Penh to check out the latest hotels and seek out some new quirky excursions, nothing beats venturing further afield on a Cambodia holiday.
One of my top places to visit has to be Koh Kong, home to the stunning Cardamom Mountains . Completely away from it all I recently had the pleasure of getting totally off grid with a stay at the Wildlife Alliance Release Station ; learning about the conservation and rehabilitation of animals rescued from illegal trade it is an incredibly rewarding stay. I would recommend it to anyone seeking adventure!
For a more relaxed experience in Koh Kong I can’t resist a stay on the Tatai River at the Four Rivers – morning swims in the cool waters, easy treks around the surrounding jungle and days spent lazing by the Tatai falls, it’s a beautiful hidden gem. “
When is your favourite time to travel to Cambodia?
” For me I love a Cambodia holiday in April – it’s a fairly hot month to visit but it offers a great chance for morning and evening sightseeing, days spent by the pool or on the beach, and if you time it right you join in with the celebrations for Khmer New Year (which I was fortunate enough to do a couple of years ago) . April is also still a great time to visit the more remote corners of the country before the rains arrive, although even the wetter summer months have advantages; lower visitor numbers at the temples, lush green countryside and lakes, rivers and waterfalls full to the brim, making for some fabulous photography! “
What are your top two experiences to have in Cambodia?
(If you had to choose two!)
” 1) Phnom Penh Street Food Vespa Tour – there is nothing quite like joining the mass of traffic on the roads of the city and zipping along (with a local driver of course!) to discover the hidden streets of the city, meeting the locals and sitting down to dine on some of the most delicious and unusual dishes on offer.
2) Exploring the hidden temples of Angkor by bicycle – instantly escaping the crowds on a bicycle is an incredible way to see the very best of Angkor. On my last visit I took my partner on the cycle tour and he was blown away. I’ve done this tour too many times to count already and it continues to surprise me each and every time! “
What’s your favourite hotel to stay in and why?
” One of the most traditionally Cambodian of the many boutiques dotted around Siem Reap, Montra Nivesha is a firm favourite of mine. The location is ideal for exploring the Angkor Archaeological Park, the furnishings are just beautiful and the warm welcome on arrival always makes me feel instantly at home.
Another favourite of mine is the Knai Bang Chatt on the South coast at Kep – I’m already excited to return and end a busy day with dinner and cocktails at The Sailing Club. The sunsets at Kep are breathtaking too, take me back! “
Give us your top tip for travel in Cambodia
” Go slow and stay longer. A Cambodia holiday is all too often just tagged on to the end of a trip to Vietnam or Thailand but it deserves its own dedicated trip. Venturing away from the well known spots of Siem Reap and the temples of Angkor will see you uncover the real Cambodia…hidden beaches, wild jungles and warm welcomes galore. Cambodia is also perfect to explore overland without the need to fly, making it a perfect place to travel with family, too! “
What’s your favourite memory of your time in Cambodia?
” After every single Cambodia holiday I return with incredible memories but a few highlights that always make me smile include my very first ride on the original Bamboo train at Battambang , feeding a rescued Pangolin in the depths of the Cambodian jungle with the Wildlife Alliance , teaching a group of young children nursery rhymes and dances (including the haka) at a school in Siem Reap and countless performances at the Phare Circus. The people of Cambodia make every journey so special and so it’s without surprise that all of my highlights centre around being in the company of the locals. “

Big Sights. Small Crowds.
Experience the World, while it’s still quiet
With Peru and Ecuador moving off the red list from Monday, travel is back on the table in a big way.
Here at HA we always do our best to suggest ways to get you off the beaten track, walking the road less travelled and soaking up true authenticity wherever you’re visiting. However, all countries have those truly must-visit experiences and places that can’t be missed. And, with those bucket-list worthy spots, tends to come the crowds! (We tried to keep schtum about Petra, but the word got out.)
For the time being though, with fewer tourists the big sights are so much more peaceful than normal. So, it could just be the perfect time to get back out there to experience some of the most magical places in our world, while they’re quieter than they’ll *hopefully* ever be again.
Botswana
Botswana ‘s Okavango Delta and Linyanti Wetlands reserves are a sprawling safari playground, with incredible scenery, untouched wilderness and just about all of the definitive, headline grabbing African wildlife that you could hope to see. And, with game viewing here even more exclusive than it usually is, you’re guaranteed countless memorable wildlife encounters and far fewer tourists to share them with. Plus, with an exclusive chance to save more than £1,000 per person on this Botswana adventure (when travelling within 30 days of booking, and on selected dates), incredible safari sightings could be closer than you think. Contact our Botswana specialist, Kirsty, for more information. (Offer valid at time of writing).
Peru
Peru is set to be moved off the red list on Monday (we couldn’t be happier about this news!). And that means the spectacular Incan citadel of Machu Picchu , nestled high in the Andes Mountains, is ripe for exploring once more. This jewel in the crown of the Inca empire is South America’s most iconic visitor attraction – and it never disappoints. Whether you choose to trek or take the train or bus up, the view at the top will be worth every minute of the journey. Get in quick, to experience this top bucket-list destination for yourself, before the crowds return! Find out more >
Sri Lanka
This train ride through Sri Lanka ‘s tea hills really is something else. And to enjoy the experience to the fullest, we’ll always book you a window seat. With fewer tourists, there will be more chance to move through the carriages, lean out of open windows and sample tasty delicacies sold by the local sellers who make their way down the aisles. Or, if you have an adventurous streak, sit in an open doorway to feel the breeze as you watch the far-reaching tea terraces whizz by below. An exhilarating journey like no other awaits. Take me there >
Namibia
Climbing the imposing orange dunes of the Namib desert is a must when in the Sossusvlei region of Namibia. The huge 100m high peak of Dune 45 makes for a bit of a challenge – and a staggering view across the golden plains once you get to the top! Plus, right now, you’re able to take in the sweeping vistas with very little company. Pinch-yourself moments guaranteed. Now is such a fantastic time to visit Namibia, and with great last-minute availability on routes like this two-week self-drive Namibia itinerary , get in touch with Kirsty, our Namibia specialist , to plan your trip today.
Mauritius
Surrounded by crystal-clear turquoise waters and immaculate white sandy beaches, we’d understand if Mauritius is calling your name. Whether you visit as a standalone romantic holiday (we’re looking at you honeymooners), or fancy unwinding in paradise after a South African safari adventure , Mauritius makes the perfect island hideaway. Boasting one of the largest unbroken barrier reef systems in the world and fringed by soft sand beaches, it could just be the perfect place to enjoy the peace and tranquility of a perfect post-pandemic getaway. Take me there >
Canada
Just an hour away from Toronto , you can experience the power and roar of what is arguably one of Canada’s most famous icons – the plummeting Niagara Falls. Whether you choose to feel the spray on your face from the water as you cruise to the base of Horseshoe Falls, walk along the White Water Walk boardwalk or venture into the tunnel – Journey Behind the Falls – which takes you behind the cascading wall of water, this is a sight not to be missed. Plus, fewer crowds allows a rare and uninterrupted opportunity to be wowed by this magnificent example of mother Nature at work. Find out more on this sample ‘Canada Icons’ holiday itinerary >
Jordan
Petra , once called “the rose-red city half as old as time” and famously voted one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, is a must-see for visitors to Jordan, and for good reason. It’s hard to beat (or put into words) the feeling when you catch your first glimpse of the Treasury Tomb at the end of the dramatic Siq Canyon – and it’s all the more magical without the crowds! HA clients, the Sussexes, visited Jordan last month and said: “A lot of the places were very quiet. It made seeing places so much easier, especially Wadi Rum and also wandering around Petra.” See it all on this Grand Tour of Jordan
Cambodia
With more than 1000 temples scattered across its 400 square kilometers, Cambodia’s Angkor Wat is the most visited sight in Cambodia. With South East Asia being a little slower to open up, we’d recommend getting a trip booked in for 2022. This way, you’ll have a holiday in the diary to look forward to and will travel knowing you’ll not only beat the crowds, but you’ll be supporting a wonderful country in its efforts to reignite tourism, too. The ethereal glow of the sun as it rises over the ancient towers of Angkor is an experience everyone should have when they visit this remarkable side of the world. See the Temples of Angkor and so much more on this ‘Best of Cambodia’ holiday itinerary.
