Princess d'Annam is one of Vietnam's newest ultra-luxury resorts, located on secluded and pristine Ke Ga Bay, 90 miles from Saigon and close to the Phan Thiet peninsula. It is a complex popular with wealthy ex-pats and well-to-do Vietnamese keen to vacate Saigon at weekends. This swathe of sheltered sand is also a very safe swimming area as the shallow incline affords easy wading. And it is not within walking distance of anywhere so it is a perfect place to escape.....an absolute retreat.
It is a modern construct which somehow blends into its surrounds, made up of 57 villas, four swimming pools and a spacious spa. Each villa enjoys 24-hour butler service and are themselves a sanctuary, surrounded by high walls which shield a private garden and outdoor bathroom. Expect light pastel hues, big divans, cane chairs, large desks and cream tile flooring. Designed by famous Singaporean architect Tan Hock Beng, there are too-many-to-mention design features....lets simply say that the Princess d'Annam is the very latest in luxury villa accommodation. There is an emphasis on exquisite cuisine in the restaurants and service is brisk, welcoming and attentive.
In the sumptuous grounds a ginger garden lends its aromatic scents to the breeze. The piece de resistance is surely the unadorned deep-blue rectangular swimming pool that runs along the shoreline, ringed by flaming magenta bougainvillea. Out front is the beach and at the back is the colonnaded lobby and a timber-deck restaurant. Resort activities include catamaran sailing, water skiing & wakeboarding, horse riding on the beach, mountain bike riding amongst the palm groves, golf at the nearby Nick Faldo designed Ocean Dunes Golf Club or simply relaxing by the swimming pools. Despite the detailed top-drawer finish and no leaf being out of place, Princess d'Annam is still homey.
