Excursion Overview
Our 4x4 jeep safari takes you to a traditional Bishnoi village outside of Jodphur. Bishnoi means 29, which refers to the 20 Hindu and nine Muslim principles that the sect observes. The tribe have been lauded for their dedication to conservation over the years, having ultimate respect for deer and cows that they believe to be their ancestors; they will even breast feed orphaned deer and ensure firewood is insect free before they light it. The Bishnoi community are also renowned for their unique ceremonies. This tour gives you a unique insight into a Bishnoi ceremony, which often includes diluted opium. You are most welcome to take park in the opium offerings or you can simply observe. Either way this is a fascinating experience and an authentic insight into traditional Rajasthani life. Lunch is included.
