The small medina of Chefchaouen is great for wondering around and provides endless photo opportunities, with the surrounding mountains forming the perfect backdrop to the white-washed and blue-trimmed houses; it’s also a compact medina and there’s little chance of getting lost! Those mountains are also great for walks and treks: at the very least the short climb to the Spanish Mosque provides great views over the town. After exerting yourself, retire to the Plaza Uta al-Hammam to take a coffee and a pastry, and watch the world go by.
