The Taj Mahal was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 and it arguably looks as immaculate today as it did in 1648. Its creator, Emperor Shah Jahan, said it made ‘the sun and moon shed tears from their eyes’ and it’s easy to see why. We highly recommend visiting this spectacular monument at different times of the day when the white marble reflects the nuances of the changing light from the sun. Sunset is a spectacular time to visit, as crowds of visiting tourists tend to dissipate so that the mausoleum can be enjoyed in more peaceful surroundings. It’s also a fantastic time of day for photography.  Do take the opportunity to find yourself a quiet corner to sit awhile. You only need to move a hundred metres from where everyone else walks and you could be a million miles away.
