Surrounded by the mountains on an altitude of more than 200 meters above the sea level, covering a total area of 520 square kilometres, Mai Chau is notably one of the most beautiful, scenic, cultural mountainous town in Vietnam. The Mai Chau Valley offers a wealth of experiences for those looking for a little more adventure on their holiday and we recommend adding in a cycling or kayaking tour.
A great way to travel in Vietnam’s Mai Chau is by bicycle. Take a guided cycling tour to scope out the trails around Mai Chau. It’s not only a great way to exercise but excellent for sight-seeing. Take in the majestic beauty of the karst mountains above the humble organized valley below, and the dense thickets around you. See the stilt houses arranged together in the valley or along with the meandering cattle by the roadside.
For a kayaking experience, enjoy a guided tour out on the gorgeous Hoa Binh Reservoir, the largest man made reservoir in Vietnam. It’s the experience of a lifetime as you paddle beneath the rolling karst mountains, through the lush evergreen forest and local tribal villages.

Usually book our own holidays but the trip we wanted to Vietnam and Cambodia was far too complicated, Lisa was excellent from start to finish, the arrangements were seamless. Guides and drivers were amazing, hotels were perfectly located to allow us to walk and explore. Food walking tours were great and the tuk tuk tour fantastic. We covered everything we wanted and more including the blessings by the Buddhist monk, climbing inside the cu chi tunnels and cocktails in Raffles. Couldn’t recommend Lisa and HA any more fantastic service.
