The waters of the Indian Ocean off the Elephant Coast are teeming with life, thanks to nutrient-rich currents that sweep up from the Antarctic. Huge schools of brightly coloured bait fish, pods of dolphins, giant turtles, whales, sharks and even whale sharks are all spotted with remarkable regularity here. For beginners, many of the lodges offer PADI courses, whilst experienced divers can head out beyond the surf to try and see some of this remarkable array of marine life for themselves.
