A full day river trip, heading deep in to the Mekong Delta on board an authentic river junk.
These attractive boats can host small groups, but are best privately chartered for a day to explore the nooks and crannies of the Mekong Delta. The boats are 13 metres long and 3 metres wide, with a design and style which reflects the authentic ancient “sampans”. They have been built using rattan, bamboo and exotic wood.
All itineraries start in Cai Be, which is a couple of hours drive from Saigon. The boats then head towards Vinh Long and Sa Dec. It’s a long day’s excursion, after an early start you will eventually get back to Saigon in the early evening. The boats are small enough to get deep in to the backwaters and up close in the markets. They are also supremely comfortable – better then the many other local tourist boats which plough the same waters. Food is served by a small, ever-attentive team on board and the itinerary can take you wherever the action is – or isn’t, if you simply want to get away from it all. Once the boat is chartered, you are in charge.
