Explore the Mekong Delta on two wheels. Traveling by bike, you’ll gain an alternative perspective on this gloriously scenic region, as you get to witness first-hand the daily lives of the locals. You start cycling from the town of Cai Be, which is a two hour drive from downtown Saigon. Its best to get an early start, to try beat the teeming rush hour traffic and start cycling before the heat kicks in.
You will cycle for approximately 20 miles, exploring a myriad of orchards, rice fields, tiny villages, canals and local temples. You begin with a one and a half hour ride through quiet back roads, with plenty of opportunity to rest and refuel along the way. No doubt you will enjoy your delicious lunch of delta specialties on a small island, before continuing pedalling to a garden house. This typical Vietnamese house has airy rooms surrounded by dirt paths, perfect for exploring by bike!
In the late afternoon return to Saigon by road, leaving the bikes in Cai Be.
