Boat trips from Aqaba can be arranged to nearby Pharaoh's Island, which is actually in Egyptian waters. The island defends the approaches to Aqaba and was fortified by the Crusaders to protect their supply lines into the port at Aqaba. The remains of the citadel are in good condition and make for an interesting visit; the clear blue waters and coral reefs off the island also make for good snorkelling on your boat trip.
