Set up in 1988 by the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN) to facilitate the reintroduction of the roe deer into Jordan, Ajloun Forest Reserve is also the most southerly complete pine forest in the world and brings a very Mediterranean feel to the place. As well as the oak, pine, pistachio, carob and wild strawberry trees, there are also the roe deer, jackals, wild boar and numerous bird species to discover. There are a variety of guided trails through the reserve and surrounding countryside, as well as a short self-guided trail leading from the tents and chalets of the RSCN camp here.
