Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve is one of India’s less known tiger reserves and is perfect for those looking for a quieter experience. Dominated by teak and bamboo forests, Tadoba also offers cliffs, caves, marshes and perennial lakes. At the last count there were 70-100 tigers within the reserve, with 21 cubs born in recent years. The tigers are arguably more illusive than in the other parks and reserves as they are less used to humans, but spottings do regularly occur and the experience is all the more sweet due to the lack of tourists. Other predominantly spotted wildlife includes leopard, wild dog and sloth bear along with over 280 species of bird. Walking safaris are possible in Tadoba’s buffer zone, something very rare in India. We feel that this, along with the opportunity to enjoy canoeing, is one of the biggest draws to the reserve.
