The Annapolis Valley stretches from Annapolis Royal in the west to Wolfville and the Minas Basin in the east, nestled between two mountain ranges. Often called the food basket of Nova Scotia, this region is known for its diverse fresh produce. Farmers’ markets here inspire delicious local cuisine, while the orchards and vineyards produce excellent craft cider and unique, award-winning wines. Nova Scotia is quickly earning a reputation as one of Canada’s top wine-producing regions.

Wolfville makes a great base for exploring the surrounding winelands, with about a dozen boutique vineyards just a short drive away. The town is also home to Acadia University, where students and faculty make up nearly half the population, giving Wolfville a vibrant small-town charm and a good selection of eateries.

East of Wolfville, the Minas Basin shapes travel between northern and southern Nova Scotia, channelling traffic through the larger town of Truro. Primarily a transport hub, Truro also offers access to some of the best views over the tidal basin and the chance to explore the sea floor at low tide. This area is often referred to as Nova Scotia’s Jurassic Park thanks to its rich geological history. Parrsboro, on the northern side of the bay, is home to the Fundy Geological Museum and an active fossil research programme.
