Excursion Overview
In 1861 the French colonial government opened prisons on the island to house political prisoners. The prisons were in use up until the end of the Vietnam War, being used by the Americans as a POW camp up to 1975. Take a tour of these historical sites with your guide, learning about the fascinating and heroic stories of Con Dao’s past. Begin your tour at the impressive local museum and continue to the oldest prison and the infamous “Tiger Cages”, as well as the American prison camp and the Hang Duong Cemetery. Your tour will teach you the captivating history of Con Dao’s past and will conclude at the same house where Camille Saint Saens composed the last three acts of the opera “Brunehilda” in 1895. Now a converted coffee shop, gaze over the bay of Con Son, while sipping on traditional Vietnamese Cafe Sua Da or Iced Coffee.

Usually book our own holidays but the trip we wanted to Vietnam and Cambodia was far too complicated, Lisa was excellent from start to finish, the arrangements were seamless. Guides and drivers were amazing, hotels were perfectly located to allow us to walk and explore. Food walking tours were great and the tuk tuk tour fantastic. We covered everything we wanted and more including the blessings by the Buddhist monk, climbing inside the cu chi tunnels and cocktails in Raffles. Couldn’t recommend Lisa and HA any more fantastic service.
