Large cities are incredibly safe, getting across the country is quick and efficient using the famous bullet-trains, and there really is something for everyone. Whether the kids are 2 or 20, it’s hard to say no to the bright neon lights of Shinjuku, the crazy costumes and fashions of Harajuku, or the thrills and shows of Disneyland or Universal Studios.
For more traditional fun for the whole family, you can bike through the old streets of Kyoto, learn to swing a sword like a samurai, or make some thunderous noise with some taiko drumming.
