Charming Kanazawa (Full Day)

Stretch your legs this morning with an amble around the landscaped lawns of Kenrokuen - widely agreed to be one of the best examples of Japanese gardens.  Within its borders you will discover a large villa, a couple of tea houses, and the oldest water fountain in Japan - as well as endless perfect views of greenery, flowers, trees and water-features.

Lunch will be taken in the hustle and hubbub of Omicho Market, where you can try delectable sushi and seafood, as well as fresh fruit from the surrounding countryside.  This afternoon, meander around the enchanting neighbourhood of Higashi Chaya - a quieter version of the more famous Gion neighbourhood in Kyoto, and incredibly well preserved and maintained.  Finally, wander through the old Samurai district and check out the former residence of a high-ranking family here - Nomura House -taking a step back in time as you discover the heirlooms and antiques in this museum-like abode.

This trip can also be shortened to just the morning or the afternoon, should you prefer to relax or explore on your own for the remainder of the day.
