The Golden Temple is the spiritual centre for the Sikh faith and is one of India’s most glistening, resplendent and photogenic sights. It’s richly gilded in gold and is home to the holiest of Sikh literature, the Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Enveloped by an artificial lake full of purifying water, the Golden Temple is crowned with a dome shaped like an inverted lotus. The first light of dawn creates an ethereal glow and the reflection of the temple on the lake is absolutely divine.
