The Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal meet at Kanyakumari, 3.5 hours south of Kovalam, at India’s southernmost point. The area attracts throngs of pilgrims due to its association with Devi Kanyakumari, but it still remains low key with a magical atmosphere. During the tour you will visit Kanyakumari Temple that overlooks the shoreline as well as Gandhi Mandapam. This is a memorial located where some of Gandi’s ashes were held before being scattered out to sea. As part of the tour it’s also possible to take a short boat ride to Vivekananda Memorial, which stands on a rocky outcrop. This is dedicated to the Bengali religious leader who meditated here. En route to Kanyakumari from Kovalam or Trivandrum you might like to visit Padmanabhapuram Palace. This is an ancient palace built by the Rajas of Travancore, demonstrating superb craftsmanship.
