Excursion Overview
Enjoy this short train ride through the Kamblighat region of central Rajasthan. The Train, popularly known as the ‘Monkey Train’ as the monkeys somehow know the time of the train and converge on remote stations in order to be fed by the passengers. This train has been operating since 1930 and was a joint venture between the erstwhile Maharaja of Jodhpur and Maharana of Udaipur. During this one hour train journey, you will pass the hilly terrain and tunnels of the region with panoramic views of the scrub jungle, hills, 100-foot high bridges and remote one-man stations. It's a unique opportunity to experience the rural life; talk with the villagers during the journey, and understand the living cultures of Rajasthan. The landscape is rugged, yet stunning, cinematic and has a “in the middle of nowhere” feeling to it.
