Early morning you will be taken to witness an activity, which is quintessentially Kolkata, mud wrestling. Every day at sunrise the sport is performed to worship the rising sun; it has religious as well as health connotations. On the banks of the river you will see devotees praying to the river and the sun as well as taking a holy dip. Afterwards you will return to your hotel through the enormous wholesale flower market.
Later enjoy a heritage walk of Kolkata called the “Second City of the Empire”. Start from the Treasury Building in Dalhousie Square and continue to St. John’s Church, up to the Kolkata General Post Office (GPO), and around past the Collectorate Office and the Writer’s Building – the seat of the state government. From here you will continue down to the Old Court House Street where you will pass the Old Currency Building. Cross over to see the Postal Sorting Office as well as the Central Telegraph Office.
