A short drive south from Taroudant are the foothills of the Anti-Atlas Mountains – harsh, striated, ochre battlements of nature. On an easily defended knoll in an oasis named Tioute, the local Glaoui warlords built their own battlements, making one of their more impressive kasbahs that towers from the unique landscape. An angular and imposing construction, it offers wonderful views out over the Souss Valley and the surrounding mountains.
On this excursion you'll head out to Tioute in the morning and go on a mule ride through the oasis up to the kasbah. Spend some time here discovering these ancient walls before you enjoy a traditional Berber lunch. This excursion is often paired with an afternoon tour of Taroudant to explore its souqs and markets, giving you a taste of the countryside and town all in one day.
