The three Uncharted Africa camps close to the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, and Planet Baobab a little further north, all offer the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to sleep out under the stars on an ancient salt pan. With only a bedroll and a blanket for shelter and perhaps a campfire for extra warmth, this is privileged access to a unique landscape unchanged for literally thousands of years, falling asleep to the same deafening silence and sense of vast wilderness that man has experienced in this area since pre-civilisation days. The exact site can vary, although it is normally close to Kubu Island, not too far from Jack's Camp.

A guide will accompany you and build a campfire in the evening around which meals and drinks are partaken. There should be the chance to enjoy an afternoon or morning walk in the area where you sleep, while before curling up to sleep there will be tales of the bush and the long human history that has periodically impinged upon the vast solitude of the salt pans. There is no better way to truly feel the incredible "otherness" of these unique lunar landscapes.
