Day 1
You will fly to Lima today. On arrival you will be greeted by our friendly representatives and transferred into the city. Your guide will give you an overview of the city to help you make the most of your time.
Day 2
Today you will have a shared culinary tour in Lima. The tour focuses on local delicacies and some of the weird and wonderful food that Peru has to offer. The tour is interactive and involves lots of sampling opportunities! Afternoon at leisure.
Day 3
Transfer to the airport today for your short flight to colonial Arequipa. This elegant city with a striking volcanic backdrop is also known as the White City, due to the colour of the stone used in the construction of its historic centre.
Day 4
You will meet your private guide for a tour of Arequipa. Most areas of interest are within walking distance, and highlights include the beautiful Santa Catalina convent.
Day 5
Today take the spectacular overland journey to the Colca Canyon – keep a look out for herds of wild llama grazing by the sides of the road.
Day 6
This morning you will visit Condor’s Cross at the dramatic Colca Canyon. Here you can look out for the enormous condors gliding on the thermals. You will return to your hotel for a leisurely afternoon and perhaps visit the hot springs.
Day 7
Take the tourist coach to Puno today, on the shores of Lake Titicaca. Stops will be made along the way for photo opportunities and warming coca tea.
Day 8
You will have a full day excursion with your guide and boatman on Lake Titicaca. You will visit the floating Uros islands and a tranquil community on the Llachon peninsula.
Day 9
Take the tourist coach to Cusco today, proud former capital of the Inca empire. Transfer to your hotel in the historic centre, an area filled with pretty plazas, boutiques and restaurants.
Day 10
Today take a guided tour exploring the highlights of central Cusco as well as some of the impressive Incan ruins on the surrounding hillsides.
Day 11
You will be transferred into the Sacred Valley of the Incas today, and your hotel close to the fortress town of Ollantaytambo.
Day 12
You will take the spectacular train journey towards Machu Picchu, but will disembark at kilometre 104. From here you will take a full day walk to Machu Picchu’s Sun Gate. The walk will take between five and eight hours depending on your fitness level, and is a spectacular journey. You will get a first glimpse of Machu Picchu from afar on this final section of the Inca Trail, and then transfer to Machu Picchu town where you will spend the night.
Day 13
After a good night’s sleep, you will return to Machu Picchu with your guide for a comprehensive tour of the spectacular Inca citadel. If you still have energy you can climb Huayna Picchu mountain, for breathtaking views over the site. Take the train back to the Sacred Valley of the Incas later this afternoon.
Day 14
Free day in the beautiful Sacred Valley of the Incas – a whole wealth of activities can be arranged here, but you may wish to simply relax and enjoy the pristine surroundings before your journey home tomorrow.
Day 15
You will be transferred to Cusco airport for your flights home, via Lima.
Day 16
Arrive home today.
