Day 1
Fly direct from London to Tokyo, arriving the next day, and take a connecting flight to Kyoto.
Day 2
Our team will meet you in the airport to welcome you to Japan. Travel by private vehicle to your accommodation in Kyoto, your home for the next four nights.
Day 3
Your guide will pick you up after breakfast for a full day of sightseeing in this history-filled city. Visit Nijo Castle, the serene Ryoanji Temple, and the unforgettable golden pavilion known as Kinkakuji. This afternoon, head into the Higashiyama district to the breath-taking Kiyomizudera temple.
Day 4
Today your guide will take you to the outskirts of Kyoto to Arashiyama, famous for its bamboo groves and peaceful Buddhist monuments. Return to the city for an afternoon at leisure.
Day 5
Join your guide today on a daytrip to Nara. Japan’s ancient capital is teeming with history, and is home to hundreds of free-roaming sika deer who wander around the sites. When returning to Kyoto you may wish to stop off at the iconic Fushimi Inari shrine, where thousands of red torii gates line the paths up the mountain.
Day 6
You will be transferred by private car to the train station this morning in time for your shinkansen bullet train to Hakone. In the shadow of Mt. Fuji, the volcanic region boasts hot springs, a varied landscape and traditional ryokan inns. Upon arrival, you will be picked up by car and taken to your own homely accommodation, where a delicious dinner is served this evening.
Day 7
Enjoy a full day of independent exploration of the Hakone region, using the transport passes provided. Be sure to make time to enjoy the relaxing onsen hot springs in your inn, and to be home in time for another delicious kaiseki multi course dinner.
Day 8
A private car will again collect your group this morning, taking you to another bullet train as you zoom to Tokyo, the frenetic capital city of Japan. Arrive in Tokyo Station where your driver will whisk you off to your hotel – either in the historical Asakusa neighbourhood, or the neon-lit Shinjuku district, depending on which area suits you best.
Day 9
After breakfast, meet your knowledgeable guide for a full day of taking in the sights. With so much to see we will tailor the itinerary to your own interests – landscape gardens, futuristic museums, world-class shopping, Tokyo has it all.
Day 10
Head out of Tokyo to the charming coastal town of Kamakura. Visit the Kotokuin temple to see one of the largest bronze Buddha statues in Japan, then continue to Hasedera, a beautiful temple with views out to sea. Travel on a century-old train towards the busy shopping street of Komachidori to try some local bites for lunch, and end your day at the vast Engakuji temple.
Day 11
Your last full day in Japan has been left free to experience Tokyo however you choose. We can arrange further sightseeing or excursions if you wish – whether cycling in the trendy Shimokitazawa neighbourhood, or heading on a night out of cold beer and tasty grub with the locals.
Day 12
Head to the airport by private vehicle for your direct flight back to London, bidding a fond farewell to Japan.

Everything we do is tailor-made; our itineraries are just suggestions to give you an idea of what is possible. Please contact us so we can tailor the perfect holiday exclusively for you.

If you are long-overdue a holiday, you are certainly not alone.  In fact, we’re pretty sure that there are plenty of friends and family who you haven’t seen in a good while either, and they may also be trying to decide whether a trip abroad or a get-together is the first thing on the agenda.

Let us solve your problems and combine the two, in the most incredible and stress-free way possible.  Our Reunite itinerary will take your family, someone else’s family, maybe even your next-door-neighbours (who are your new best friends) on a private group tour of Japan.  We have hand-picked the most characterful hotels, arranged all your transfers, pre-booked some bullet train rides, and carefully selected some guided sightseeing on the majority of your days.  Throw in some international flights and you will witness the very best that the country has to offer, in less than a fortnight, at a price that won’t require you to remortgage the house.

We have created this private tour for a group of 8, staying in 4 twin or double rooms, but this can be amended to suit you and yours… and the more the merrier, of course!

1 night flying – 4 nights Kyoto – 2 nights Hakone – 4 nights Tokyo
