You will not find Maison 557 featured in many brochures or on travel websites – it has the aura of a secret ‘find’. One recent visitor called this home-away-from-home a “”veritable oasis in the heart of Siem Reap””.
Until recently a private residence, this remains the home of hosts Philippe & Brian. They have re-decorated and re-furnished throughout, with a painstaking attention to detail and considerable flair. With impeccable taste guiding them, they have prominently put plenty of local art on display.
This 1950’s colonial style villa, is only a few minutes walk away across the river from the Old Market. The four guest bedrooms are set in lush tropical gardens, surrounding a pretty central pool.
There are also two quite remarkable suites, one of which has its own private pool.
Breakfast is often served on your terrace, although there is also a communal lounge and even a small dining room for you to use. Where you eat is your choice, befitting the relaxed and homely nature of this alternative choice.
$5 from every booking will be donated to ODA (Orphans & Disabled Arts), a cause close to Phillipe & Brian’s heart. It is an organisation created to support underprivileged children through artistic creativity. They may be happy to arrange a visit, but this would be as a result of an invitation offered locally.
